TWO EVENTS THAT MAY TURN OUT TO BE UNEVENTFUL

It is a cardinal principle of news reporting that uneventful happenings do not make it to the news line-up simply because it is not newsworthy. But why do I give two uneventful events the space and main headline in this week round-up of world news?

Because these events have been drummed up as the Talks of the Week by the global mainstream media. So, let’s cut to the chase – what are these uneventful events?

THE FATE OF GAZA CEASEFIRE IN JEOPARDY?

It all started with Israel violating the terms and conditions of the ceasefire to the tune of 269 transgressions of the humanitarian protocol it was required to follow under the deal that took effect on Jan 19, including at least three military violations.

Under ceasefire rule, one or two violations do not break a ceasefire. The onus is on the party who is at the receiving end of these violations to report to the mediators (Qatar, Egypt and the US).

Hamas has duly reported on these violations early on, and both Qatar and Egypt have given stern warning to Israel to fulfill its part of the bargain in honouring the ceasefire. But not the US which remains silent on these transgressions that have multiplied in a geometric progression from two to 269.

About a week before the latest exchange of prisoners were to take place today (Feb 15), Hamas decided that enough is enough with the numerous Israeli violations and issued a statement that it will not proceed with the exchange.

Following this statement, the so-called dealmaker-cum-peacemaker of the century, president Donald Trump on Wednesday (Feb 12) with impunity issued his second hellish ultimatum to Hamas, as if he is God that can ensure all hell will break loose upon a people of his choosing, forgetting the fact that he himself can be on the receiving end of hell, if Allah wills it.

This impunity of Trump is cheered on by Israeli prime minister Netanyahu who said with impunity:

“We all also welcomed President Trump’s demand for the release of our hostages by Saturday noon, and we all also welcomed the president’s revolutionary vision for the future of Gaza.

“In light of Hamas’ announcement of its decision to violate the agreement and not release our hostages, last night I ordered the IDF to amass forces inside and around the Gaza Strip. This operation is being carried out at this time. It will be completed in the very near future.

“The decision that I passed unanimously in the cabinet is this: If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon – the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will return to intense fighting until Hamas is finally defeated.”

Now, how to deal with a Head of State (Trump) who blatantly has a one perspective worldview of all things, just like the Dajjal (anti-Christ) of end time in Islamic eschatology, who is a one-eyed jackass – either blind or defective in his right eye – and thus has a one perspective vision of all things.

Trump did not even say a word of the violations of the ceasefire by Israel in his press statement, reinforcing his one perspective worldview.

No wonder Iran says that negotiating with a government with such a ‘one-eyed- vision’ Head of State “is neither wise, nor intelligent, nor honourable”.

Iran is speaking from experience in negotiating with the US on the nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“The very person who is now in office [Trump] tore up this treaty. He said, ‘I will tear it up,’ and he did. Even before he came, those with whom this treaty was signed did not implement it. The treaty was meant to lift US sanctions. The US sanctions were not lifted at all,” said Iran’s Spiritual Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameini.

“We should learn from this experience. We gave concessions, we negotiated, we compromised, but we did not achieve any result. That is what happened. Even this treaty, with all the concessions we gave, was still undermined, violated, and torn apart by the other side.

“Negotiating with such a government should not be done. Negotiation with them is neither wise, nor intelligent, nor honourable. We must solve our problems internally, not relying on outside factors.

“As for the Americans, they comment on us, they talk, they express their opinions, they issue threats. If they threaten us, we will threaten them. If they carry out their threat, we will carry out our threat as well. If they violate the security of our nation, we will undoubtedly violate their security as well. This is our duty,” added Khameini.

But after all the blustering by Trump and Netanyahu, the pictures suddenly reversed completely on Feb 13, when the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Egypt has ordered all brigades stationed in Sinai and Rafah into maximum combat readiness.

Meanwhile Israel’s Hayom, citing a political source, said Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff is participating in talks with mediators to save the ceasefire deal.

Soon after this, several reports indicate that Hamas will free three hostages on Saturday according to the deal, after mediation talks with Egypt and Qatar. It has also announced in a statement that the ceasefire will continue after addressing Israeli violations with Qatari mediators.

They discussed the entry of tents, heavy equipment, medical supplies, and fuel, suggesting that Israel may have conceded to their pressure.

Egyptian media then published photos of heavy equipment and mobile homes on their way to enter Gaza through the Rafah crossing, which completely contradicts what the spokesman for Netanyahu’s Office said earlier.

The Israelis have caved in to the demands of Hamas, but publicly they are just making it looks like they forced Hamas into releasing the hostages without making any concessions.

Israel will now allow the appropriate amounts of aid to enter Gaza – returning to the ceasefire terms. In exchange, Hamas will also release the batch of three hostages that were previously agreed upon, which it threatened not to do if Israel did not abide by the ceasefire terms.

The ceasefire, at least as far as Phase 1 is concerned, will PROCEED.

Hamas has recorded its heartfelt thanks to Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and other countries for their official rejection of the displacement plan from the Gaza Strip.

In a statement Hamas also said it is not concerned with the collapse of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and are keen to implement it and oblige the occupation to abide by it fully.

“Mediators are exerting pressure to complete the implementation of the agreement, oblige the occupation to abide by the humanitarian protocol, and resume the exchange on Saturday.

“The movement’s delegation is in Cairo to address the obstacles placed by the occupation and ways to fully implement the ceasefire agreement. The language of threats and intimidation used by Trump and Netanyahu does not serve the implementation of the ceasefire agreement,” it added.

Meanwhile in Israel, hardline and radical ultra-right wing politician Ben Gvir rejecting Netanyahu’s claims, said:

“Another hidden clause is revealed in this agreement, which is a complete surrender to Hamas. It has been revealed that Israel has committed to bringing 60,000 mobile homes into Gaza. The Israeli government is on the verge of another historic mistake.

“After receiving President Trump’s support for unleashing hell on Gaza if all prisoners are not released, the government intends to settle for the release of just three prisoners, as part of a shameful plan that includes releasing hundreds of Palestinian fighters from prison and continuing to send fuel and aid to the Gaza Strip. A shameful deal, a terrified government.”

So at the end of the day, the issue of whether the Gaza Ceasefire will be in jeopardy is tantamount to much ado about nothing – an uneventful event. Wonder why the global mainstream media is focusing too much on it.

But wait a minute – what about the Big Bombs – the MOAB (Massive Ordinance Air Blast) – that was reportedly approved for delivery to Israel by Trump to which we know where they will ultimately land?

The approval bit is true but according to some Telegram news channels, quoting sources in Pentagon, the big bombs have not yet been delivered to Israel.

Wow, that shows Trump has some heart for the Palestinians, a little bit different from the evil and merciless Dajjal … just saying …

THE COLLAPSE OF THE ETHNIC-CLEANSING REAL ESTATE DEAL IN GAZA

According to Islamic eschatology, the Dajjal (also spelled “Dajjaal”) aka the False Messiah (anti-Christ), is often described as a one-eyed figure who will eventually be defeated and killed by Prophet Jesus (Isa, peace be with him) on his second return to Earth to establish peace and goodwill among mankind.

The Dajjal is expected to appear before the Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah) and according to various Ahadith, he will have distinct physical characteristics, including being blind in one eye.

Here are some key points about the Dajjal from Islamic tradition:

  • The Dajjal is often depicted as being blind or defective in his right eye. His left eye is said to be functional, and the word “Dajjal” itself is sometimes interpreted to mean “deceiver” or “coverer,” indicating his role in misleading people.

  • The Dajjal will claim to be a messiah or even a god, performing miracles and deceiving many people. However, his miracles will be false and meant to lead people astray.

  • His appearance is considered one of the major signs of the end times and a great trial for humanity. Believers are warned to be cautious and steadfast in their faith to avoid being misled by him.

  • He is said to rule for a specific period, during which he will cause widespread corruption and chaos. The exact duration varies in different narrations, but it is generally described as a short but intense period.

It’s important to note that descriptions of the Dajjal can vary slightly depending on the sources and interpretations of the Ahadith. However, the common theme is that he is a deceiver with significant powers to mislead people, and his one-eyed appearance is a key identifying feature.

Most Muslim exegesis contend that the esoteric meaning of the Dajjal being one-eyed lies in his failure to grasp the multi-dimensional aspect of all things and thus, he is limited to a one perspective worldview of all things.

This one perspective worldview of the Dajjal is reflected perfectly in US president Donald Trump. From his handling of the Gaza ceasefire, his crooked idea on the reconstruction of Gaza to his containment of Iran via maximalist pressure and sanctions, his one perspective worldview is so glaring.

His obsession with owning Gaza is primarily based on seeing things from the one perspective world of his experience as a real estate magnate. He saw Gaza as a perfect place to redevelop into a Gaza Riviera Resort and Casino (see artist impression above).

Riviera is a Spanish word meaning an area of coast, especially one with beaches where people go on holiday, in other words, a coastal region with a subtropical climate and vegetation just like the Mediterranean coastal region of southern France and northern Italy, extending from Cannes to La Spezia, famous for its beauty, mild climate, and fashionable resorts.

He might as well call it Gaz-a-Lago, twinning it with a piece of real estate he owns in Florida, the Mar-a-Lago which means “sea to lake” in Spanish, reflecting the fact that the estate extends from one end of Palm Beach Island to the other, touching the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Lake Worth Lagoon on the west.

But as an opinion piece in Haaretz pointed out Trump is injecting poisonous concept of ethnic cleansing into an already difficult Gaza rebuild. Gaza, it says, has no shortage of problems – a lack of luxury hotels isn’t one of them.

“Donald Trump’s plan for it is not a solution, it is a needless distraction from a very real problem,” it added.

The Haaretz piece nails it, admitting what the world already knows: Trump is not just backing Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Gaza, he’s actively trying to rebrand it as a business opportunity. “Luxury hotels” as a distraction? More like a cover for a neo-colonial land grab.

But there’s a silver lining here: Trump’s open embrace of Zionist maximalism is making the genocide impossible to whitewash. When even Haaretz is calling you out, you know the mask is slipping.

Anyway after much talk about this real estate garb of ethnic cleansing since early this week, we don’t hear about it anymore since Thursday (Feb 13).

Another much ado about nothing – an uneventful event.

Now even if we assume that it’s possible for Trump to forcibly displace the Palestinian civilians out of Gaza, what about the 40,000 Hamas fighters in Gaza – does Trump think they will easily bend to his will to move out?

When Israel has miserably failed to achieve its strategic objective of destroying Hamas after waging a war on Hamas for 15 months, does Trump think it will be a piece of cheesecake for the US military to achieve this objective?

It will be Vietnam all over again with many body bags flown into the US. Remember what former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said about the Vietnam war: A conventional army which the United States Armed Forces (USAF) is, loses if it does not win. The guerilla which in a way Hamas is, wins if it does not lose.

And the 40,000 Hamas fighters in Gaza mentioned earlier do not include fighters from the other Palestinian Resistances. No one knows the exact figure. Both the Israeli and US Intelligence have miserably failed in obtaining accurate information on this.

One other important thing about the USAF: “American weapons programs need to be completely redone. The current strategy is to build a small number of weapons at a high price to fight yesterday’s war.

“Unless there are immediate and dramatic changes made, America will lose the next war very badly,” screamed the head of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump, Elon Musk, on X.

DOGE has already cancelled approximately $420 million in government contracts within its first 80 hours of operations, taking initial steps toward an ambitious goal of reducing federal spending by $2 trillion.

Musk’s critique also extended to specific defence programs. He has been particularly damning of the F-35 fighter jet program, labelling it a “sh*t design” and advocating for a shift toward unmanned systems, which he believes are more effective and economical in modern combat.

And recent report on Telegram news channels does not bode well for the USAF – the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman collided with a merchant ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

Where was the well-trained captain, the pilot of the fighter jets, the admirals of the destroyers and the submarines … and you want  to go to war with a combat hardened guerilla force in this state? Or with Israel’s bidding, going to war with Iran?

Now if the Gaza Ceasefire is being upended by Israel, or Trump’s ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians via his “unreal” estate scheme is not a silly distraction, then these two events will be an eventful event worth reporting not so much because the ceasefire is being upended or Trump’s unreal estate scheme has become a real estate scheme, but because of the regional war that will ensue from both these events …

Just saying.
