Iran and the US may be enemies but the wonder of it all is that just like how a high ranking Iranian Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is subjected to malfeasance by the unethical UK-based global mainstream media, in the US a high ranking politician, Speaker Mike Johnson from the Republican Party was similarly subjected to journalistic malpractice, this time by a US mainstream media, CBS; Johnson has accused CBS of selectively editing an interview to change the context of what he said, and posted the original (raw) footage on social media as proof of his assertions; while cutting pre-recorded interviews for allotted duration of the programme is a standard practice, altering the content and context of the quoted statements is considered journalistic malpractice; the Speaker claimed that CBS did just that when he appeared on Sunday’s episode of ‘Face the Nation’; writing on X, he said: “I recently travelled to [North Carolina] and victims of Hurricane Helene told me nearly two weeks after landfall, the Biden-Harris Administration had STILL not provided them with all the resources they desperately needed. But CBS selectively edited OUT ENTIRELY this first-hand perspective”; he then posted the segment that was aired alongside the raw footage, which showed the parts CBS deleted; he then shared another example of selective editing where CBS removed all references to the federal government trying to prevent a state from removing non-citizens from voter rolls: “Here’s the problem, there is a number of states that are not requiring proof of citizenship when illegals or non-citizens register to vote. We know that’s happening. Everybody should want the law to be followed,” was what CBS aired Johnson as saying, but it deleted any mention of the Biden administration suing Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin for cleaning up voter rolls to exclude non-citizens, or Johnson wondering why the White House would do something that “creates a lot of doubt and concerns in the minds of the American people”; another deletion – what was shown as the soundbite is this: “So they’ve obligated some funds, but they’ve only distributed 2% … The rescue and recovery effort is still going on, and then we address the rest of it”; CBS deleted five other sentences in between what was aired, including that the people of North Carolina told Johnson they “had not been provided the resources, almost two weeks after the storm, that they desperately needed”; in the third instance, CBS cut Johnson’s entire answer to the question about voting integrity, leaving only the opening sentence; according to Fox News, Johnson was so disgusted by what happened that he has vowed to never give a non-live interview with CBS again; CBS has already faced criticism for their ‘60 Minutes’ interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, in which the network aired two different answers to the same question in the preview and in the final broadcast, causing former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who will face Harris in the November 5 election, to accuse CBS of perpetrating “the greatest fraud in broadcast history” with the Harris interview and called for their broadcast license to be revoked; strange that CBS has declined to release the raw footage to clear up the controversy; is this a harbinger that we may just see again the saga of rigged election being played again as in the 2020 election (Trump lost), and the 2016 election (Hillary Clinton lost) which calls to mind the contentious atmosphere that it engendered, culminating in the Capital Riot in January 2021; a pity the Americans are being given a choice of two candidates that can only be described as choosing between a rock and a hard place; a Trump victory would mean one hotspot area in the world (Ukraine) will come to an end, but not the other hotspot area in the Middle East as Trump is a more true blue Zionist than Joe Biden; a Harris victory similarly would have the reverse effect in which the hotspot Middle East will simmer down a bit, while Ukraine could explode into a world war since the Democrats are the sponsor and creator of project Ukraine; as the election enters into its final lap, it’s still a close call for both candidates but there are reports of Harris losing her ground, especially in the battleground states, which is a major red flag for the Democrat camp, as nearly 17 days are left now for the polls to begin; Democrats are also said to be panicking over the prospect of a Trump win as Harris loses momentum; what about the two third party candidates – Jill Stein of the Green Party and Chase Oliver of the Libertarian Party – both in general are campaigning for a new deal to fix the broken two-party political system that features prioritizing a “pro-worker, anti-war (read: no support for both Ukraine and Israel), a “pro climate emergency agenda”, aiming to bring these issues to the forefront of national discourse; but again no third party candidate has ever commanded a good number of popular votes, let alone electoral votes in the Electoral College; the only thing they will do is to drain votes away from one of the two major contenders, in this case Stein draining votes away from Harris, but what if this is offset by Oliver draining votes away from Trump, to give either one of these two third party candidates, most probably Steiner the presidency?; an unrealistic scenario of course but isn’t politics the art of making the impossible, possible?; moreover this scenario is anytime better than the spectre of an event far worse than the 2021 Capitol riot occurring if Trump were to lose; it’s indeed ironical for the US to easily execute regime change in other countries that it will benefit, but so difficult to achieve the same result of a regime change in its own turf; which may lead to the election being decided by the toss of a coin, as depicted in Jeffrey Archer’s novel, Sons of Fortune in which the election for a governor was done by the toss of coin when the result was a tie; meanwhile in the Korean Peninsula, a new conflict is brewing between North Korea and South Korea that will definitely have the potential to turn it into a proxy war between Russia and the US; if this conflict materialises, then the US will be facing a four-front proxy wars – with Russia in Ukraine, with Iran in the Middle East and with China over Taiwan; moreover all these happen when the US military-industrial complex is facing huge problem of ramping up production of weaponries and ammunitions that have been heavily depleted due to giving them in huge quantities to Ukraine and Israel; and only the day before news of this new conflict emerge, Putin has already formally requested the State Duma (Parliament) to ratify the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership with North Korea which was signed in June during Putin’s trip to Pyongyang:
